About BusRight
More than 26 million students ride approximately 500,000 school buses every day.
At BusRight, we are building the modern operating system for school transportation, helping districts manage routing, driver navigation, live GPS tracking, student transportation data, and communication with families.
We are looking for a Technical Support Engineer who enjoys understanding complex systems, debugging production issues, writing code, and building tools that make both our product and our teams more effective.
The Role
This is a hands on technical engineering role focused on investigating real world system behavior and building solutions.
You will work across our application, APIs, logs, data integrations, GPS systems, hardware, and codebase to understand how things work and why they sometimes do not.
A meaningful part of the role involves writing, improving, and maintaining TypeScript and JavaScript scripts and internal tools. These may help investigate production behavior, analyze customer data, automate operational workflows, validate integrations, or provide functionality that does not yet exist in the product.
You will also own complex customer reported issues from investigation through resolution, working directly with Engineering, Product, Customer Success, and customers when needed.
What You Will Do
• Investigate complex production issues across application behavior, APIs, logs, integrations, data, GPS, and hardware
• Read and understand existing TypeScript and JavaScript code to trace system behavior and identify root causes
• Write new TypeScript and JavaScript scripts to solve technical and operational problems
• Maintain and improve existing internal scripts and tools as requirements and systems evolve
• Build custom tooling for data analysis, troubleshooting, validation, reporting, and internal workflows
• Work with APIs and large datasets to investigate issues and build solutions
• Reproduce bugs and provide Engineering with clear technical findings, evidence, and recommended next steps
• Troubleshoot Student Information System integrations and data synchronization issues
• Investigate GPS, tablet, connectivity, and other deployed hardware behavior
• Identify repetitive work and replace it with automation, tooling, or better internal systems
• Use AI assisted workflows to accelerate coding, debugging, investigation, and technical problem solving
• Own complex customer reported issues through resolution and ensure technical problems do not get lost between teams
What We Are Looking For
• 2+ years of experience in support engineering, software engineering, solutions engineering, technical support, or a similar technical role
• Strong TypeScript or JavaScript experience, including the ability to understand existing code and write new scripts independently
• Experience debugging software and investigating production system behavior
• Experience working with APIs, logs, backend systems, integrations, and structured data
• Comfortable building internal tools and scripts to solve problems that do not have an existing solution
• Comfortable maintaining code and tooling after the initial solution is built
• Experience analyzing data using SQL, spreadsheets, scripts, or similar tools
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to break ambiguous problems into smaller technical questions
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical findings clearly
• A strong sense of ownership and willingness to drive problems through resolution
• Comfortable working in a fast moving environment where you may need to design the solution rather than follow an existing process
• Experience with or strong interest in using AI as part of everyday engineering work
Why This Role
You will work on problems that span software, data, integrations, GPS, hardware, and real world transportation operations.
One day you might trace an issue through logs and APIs. Another day you might write a TypeScript script to analyze thousands of records, build an internal tool to automate a workflow, or investigate behavior across the application and deployed hardware.
You will work directly with engineers, have access to the systems and data needed to investigate problems deeply, and build solutions when existing product functionality is not enough.
You will not just identify problems. You will understand them, solve them, and build tools that make the next problem easier to solve.

CFO-in-Residence
Flying Horse Capital
Location: Relocation required to the acquired business
Employment type: Full-time
Seniority: Executive
ABOUT THE ROLE
Flying Horse Capital acquires lower-middle-market family- and founder-owned businesses and holds them permanently. When we buy a company, we put leadership in the seat a CEO, a CFO, or both and give them the ownership and authority to run it. This isn't a search fund or a typical private equity finance role. You are not producing reporting packages for a deal team waiting on an exit. You are building the financial backbone of a business that will be owned for decades.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
We are selective about who we partner with. Every leader in our program brings deep operational experience, a proven track record, and a personal investment in the outcome. Our approach is built on the conviction that great businesses deserve great operators, and that long-term ownership creates the environment for both to thrive. CFOs of our portfolio companies receive meaningful ownership and real authority over the finance function they build.
We place a CFO in one of two situations:
The owner is transitioning out. We acquire the business, the founder or family exits on agreed terms, and we place both a CEO and a CFO to run it. In this case you are half of a new leadership team stepping into a company that has never had one. You build the finance function while your CEO builds the operating rhythm, and the two of you establish credibility with employees and customers from day one.
The owner is staying. We acquire the business and the founder or family CEO remains in the seat, but the finance side of the organization needs to be upgraded. In this case you are the CEO's right hand the first real finance leader the company has ever had. You bring visibility, discipline, and decision-quality information to an owner who has run the business on instinct and a checkbook balance, without taking away what made them successful.
Both paths require the same person: someone who can build a finance organization from the ground up inside a company that has never had one, and do it without breaking what already works.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Once a business is identified and acquired, the CFO steps in from day one. You relocate to where the business operates and take ownership of the financial function.
- Own the financial function end to end accounting, reporting, forecasting, cash, treasury, and controls
- Build the close. Get to accurate, timely monthly financials that leadership can actually make decisions from
- Establish the cash discipline that drives the business: working capital, collections, vendor terms, and liquidity
- Build a reporting and KPI framework that ties financial results to operational drivers the team understands
- Replace tribal knowledge and hand-built spreadsheets with systems that scale
- Serve as the CEO's closest partner on pricing, capital allocation, hiring, and growth decisions
- Develop the accounting and finance team already in the building, and hire where you have gaps
- Manage the banking, insurance, tax, and audit relationships
- Support add-on acquisitions and integration where the business pursues them
- This is a long-term role. Our CFOs are committed to building enduring businesses.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership, including time as a CFO, VP of Finance, or Controller with full-function ownership
- Experience as the senior-most finance person in a business not a division of a larger company with corporate support behind you
- Experience in businesses that are not fully professionalized: inconsistent reporting, cash-basis habits, tribal knowledge, systems built by hand
- Demonstrated ability to build a monthly close, a forecasting process, and a reporting package where none existed
- Strong operational orientation you spend time on the floor, in the field, and with customers, not only behind a desk
- Comfort partnering with a founder or family owner who has never worked with a finance executive before
- CPA, MBA, or equivalent depth preferred but not required
- Ability and willingness to invest personal capital alongside Flying Horse Capital
- Willingness to relocate to the acquired business, wherever it is located
SELECTION PROCESS
Every candidate goes through a rigorous vetting process, including behavioral assessments, background and credit checks, and a requirement to invest personal capital alongside Flying Horse Capital.
CONSIDERATION FOR THE PROGRAM
If you would like to be considered for the Flying Horse Capital CFO-in-Residence program, we welcome your application. Please note: submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance or admission to the program. Applications are reviewed for consideration into our CFO pipeline. We build this pipeline continuously, ahead of the businesses we acquire, so that when the right opportunity comes we already know the right operator. If you are selected to move forward, a member of the Flying Horse Capital team will contact you directly.

We are looking for an experienced Offensive Security Consultant who can conduct high-quality security testing for clients, help us establish a repeatable offensive security methodology, and eventually mentor junior consultants in conducting security assessments. We are particularly interested in someone who understands modern, practical penetration testing, including the effective use of automation and AI-assisted techniques without sacrificing professional judgment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate has:
• 5+ years of professional experience in offensive security (penetration testing, ethical hacking, red teaming).
• Strong experience conducting security assessments across multiple environments.
• Experience with external and internal network penetration testing.
• Experience with web application and API security testing.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences.
• The ability to produce professional penetration-testing reports with clear risk ratings, evidence, business impact, and remediation guidance.
• Although not the core focus of this role, experience with Incident response and digital forensics is a strong plus.
- Must have relevant certifications such as OSCP, GPEN
What You May Do
Depending on the engagement, responsibilities may include:
• Conducting external, internal, wireless, web application, and API penetration tests.

• Although not the primary focus of this role, it may involve incident response investigations and, where appropriate, forensic analysis.
What We Value
We are looking for someone who is more than a \"tool operator.\"
The right person understands how to think like an attacker, how to test systematically, how to distinguish real risk from noise, and how to communicate what the findings actually mean to the business.
We also want someone who enjoys building capability—not just completing individual assessments. Over time, this person can contribute to expanding Trusted Ascent's offensive-security practice.
Company Description
Trusted Ascent provides personalized, results-driven consulting services focused on Cybersecurity, Risk Management, and Technology Governance. The organization helps businesses build secure and resilient processes that support strategic objectives and regulatory compliance.
