Mississippi Senate Being Sued For Underpaying Black Attorney

The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against the Mississippi State Senate, accusing it of underpaying Black attorney Kristie Metcalfe. The lawsuit claims Metcalfe received half the salary of her white colleagues, violating the Civil Rights Act’s provisions against racial discrimination in the workplace.
